A discussion about the core policy platform of the AEP, which is that Australia should return to full employment. Also policies related to workplace diversity and equality including equal pay for equal work and equal opportunity. This policy area is also where we include tax policies on earned income, superannuation or retirement savings/investments, and workplace safety regulation.

Here we will discuss issues of immigration policy and border control, such as asylum seeker policy, demography and geography including transport & communications infrastructure and urban planning, agriculture, climate change, resource/energy lifecycle, animal welfare, landcare and other ecological sustainability. Coupled with this is investment in innovation and research and development. The reason that innovation is included here is because we believe that we should be innovating primarily in the areas of sustainable farming and food security, energy security and transport; we also believe that urban planning and immigration will have an impact and be impacted by focus on innovation.

Policies empowering Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander populations and closing gaps in health, education and employment outcomes.

Policies promoting equality & safety for women, ethnic minorities and those in the QUILTBAG community. Also any policies related to law enforcement, prevention of violence, criminal justice or prison reform, juvenile justice and child protection.

Policies aimed at healthcare, mental health, aged care/pension, disabled care/pension, health, in-home/family care, early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary education. Vocational training and apprenticeships are included in the Full Employment policy area.

Policies related to copyright law, banking, financial and prudential regulation, corporate structure, business and corporate taxation, taxation of unearned income, assets and consumption taxes & housing affordability. Some tax and regulatory policy from other areas may impact business, banking and financial regulation, in particular workplace safety, diversity and equality however we have given those issues their own categories so as to ensure an emphasis on policy in those areas.
