Hey, first post around here. I like what you are doing though and keen to get involved!
I think there are some things that might go a long way in promoting the party. Firstly, having an official AEP twitter account, Instagram account and Facebook page would be good. The Facebook group is good for discussions but having a page in addition would give the party a more official looking, branded voice, and on the page we can 'control the narrative' of how the AEP is portrayed. We'd point people who want to be involved in the party towards the Facebook group, and people who just want to support it towards the page.
I think there is definitely a 'credibility gain' to be had in doing this and having a strong brand/visual identity across all the platforms (Positive Money in the U.K. Do really well at this). The website and logo look really good so that's a good start! I have a bit of this kind of experience (from a past life, my day job as an electronics engineer now) so I might be able to contribute in this kind of thing, as well as little infographic kind of stuff for posting on social media.
Next, something I've noticed the ALP do really well is every now and then doing a strong 'call to action', whether for donations or volunteering or something. I haven't been a member long enough to receive any emails yet, but doing an email push to try and get people to get their friends to sign up might be all it takes to get enough signups. Something like "We need your help to get to registration - if all our members just signed up three friends, we'd have more than enough members to register the party!" Without a big, coordinated push it's going to take years for the members to trickle in to get to 500.
Getting registered would be the first big opportunity to get some media attention. It'll be pretty critical to have press releases, fact sheets, and that kind of thing all ready to go.
One last thing, I've noticed that across some of the places that discussion of the AEP has happened on the internet, surprisingly some of the biggest objections so far haven't been the economic policy but the support of the UN. I personally have no problem with the UN, but I wonder whether it might be worth reconsidering the policy (or how it's worded) if it's costing support...?
Anyway, let me know what you guys think. I'm happy to help out setting up accounts, helping run them, etc.
