First read: I thought you could have been more explicit about unemployment, that the involuntarily unemployed is a underutilised resource
Second read: What is the current correct size of the deficit? How much is a socially inclusive minimum wage?
Third read: I thought it read fine and that my concern about a lack of explicitness in the first read was satisfied by "The simplest indicator that the government deficit is too small, is involuntary unemployment."
However, I'm not a journo or a politico and these people will read it once and come to their own conclusions & I all ready lean in favour of this style of response and have some background knowledge.

Okay great feed back thanks I'll have a play around with the wording when I get the chance and post a new version. If you'd like to post an amended version in the meantime id love to see any ideas you have for improvement.
Also: is this the right format? Should it be more like a press release with an actual story in it that someone can "cut and paste"? Thinking about my discussion on this with una last night. ..:

Personally I'd have essentially 3 versions. A press release version (short and sweet) with 'For more information URL to AEP site document' at the bottom. A shorter version of what you currently have with 3-4 paragraphs for each heading, less is more with 'Extended Version available at URL to AEP site document'. You should be able to guess the 3rd and final version is the full version which you currently have - probably with some extra editing just to smooth the ideas out for the uninitiated. That's my five cents, for what its worth.

Okay great do you have any experience writing press releases? I don't ... timothymarkjones what about you? Is getting into the paper something we should be chasing currently when we haven't registered do you think? I'd always sort of imagined we would chase PR once we had registration so as not to be just a rag tag bunch of no hopers looking for a street corner to preach on. Wholly open to suggestion on this one. |

Maybe a celebrity endorsement would be enough to speed up registration AND give us a soapbox on the 6pm news. How is James Mathison looking these days? |

johncitizen yes well Phillip Adams said just this the other day: I need a "superstar convert". I've been trying to get in front of Laura Tingle, Paul Keating and Ken Henry with no luck yet. I've also contacted some prominent people through LinkedIn but haven't heard back. I got in touch with Adam Goodes and a few journalists. I've been emailing journalists. Etc. Unfortunately I have a hunch that registration might be the point at which we can get some press. I think that until that point we just have to slog it out.

Looking at recent successful politicians it seems that being controversial is a good way to get attention. What is more controversial than saying you want to increase the deficit?

Saying that NASA manipulates climate data, rejecting all Muslims immigration and saying you want to build a huge wall to keep out foreigners? Hmm okay maybe not  I think that the debt jubilee from Steve keen had the potential to be more controversial ... I am thinking we could phrase t as "nationalising mortgages" Everyone has a mortgage and everyone is getting fucked by banks so I think perhaps that is going to be more media magnetic than full employment todd |
